OPIA Romania announces the first edition of the conference dedicated to regional security issues
OPIA Romania will organize the first edition of the conference on area security issues, entitled “New security arrangements of NATO and affiliated partners in the current geostrategic and military context”, with the support of the Chamber of Deputies, under the high patronage of the Defence Committee, the institutional partner of the event.
On this occasion, we invite you to participate on 5 December 2022, at 9.00 a.m., at the Palace of Parliament, in the first edition of the conference, which is dedicated to professionals in the field of defence industry, but also to state officials as decision-makers.
The conference will be attended by officials, members of the Romanian Government, representatives of Romanian arms manufacturers, representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in our country, representatives of the relevant authorities of various countries with strategic importance in the current context. Therefore, the event is aimed at defence industry companies, diplomats, state officials and will consist of a panel of thematic sessions followed by an interactive B2B session.

Conference theme and topics for debate
On the occasion of the first edition of the conference “New security arrangements of NATO and its affiliated partners in the current geostrategic and military context” we will discuss the current security challenges in the Black Sea area and the impact on the neighbouring regions, as well as the prospects for deterrence and defence policy in the Black Sea area in the coming years.
The conference will cover the following topics:
- geo-political developments in the Black Sea region in the context of the war in Ukraine;
- enhanced unity in addressing the challenges of rethinking armaments policies;
- ways to strengthen the resilience of the Black Sea basin states;
- managing an emerging global order;
- challenges arising from supply chain disruption and stock depletion;
- the next war, conventional or asymmetric? a challenge to the defence industry;
- bringing Romanian arms manufacturers into line with current requirements;
- repositioning and resizing the armaments market in the vicinity of hot spots of conflict – SMAP Logistics Directorate;
- increasing the volume of investment in the defence industry, generated by current consumption needs.
Special attention will be paid to strategies on geo-political developments in the Black Sea region in the context of the war in Ukraine. At the same time, among the topics that will be addressed are those related to the programmes developed by the EU, in the context of the Union’s strategic autonomy project, industrial cooperation and Romanian investments in research and development, as well as the specific armament programmes of the Romanian Ministry of Defence.
The event will be attended by officials, members of the Romanian Government, representatives of Romanian arms manufacturers, representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in our country, representatives of the relevant authorities of various countries with strategic importance for the current reality.
We therefore invite you to participate in this event, which aims to debate the current problems faced by economic agents in the sector, to share common experiences and to identify new business partners.
